Heart and Mind Inscribed
What God Has Written Within.
A lie repeated often enough can begin to sound reasonable.
Wrong can become familiar without ever becoming right.
The world may fight for the pen — but it does not own the page.
If I take a moment to observe what is around me, I begin to see how the world keeps trying to write over what God has inscribed upon my soul.
Hebrews 10 begins with an important distinction:
“For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things…”
— Hebrews 10:1
The old sacrifices were repeated again and again because they could never fully perfect the one drawing near.
They pointed toward something greater.
Toward Christ.
And then, only a few verses later, Hebrews tells us what the New Covenant would look like:
“I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them.”
— Hebrews 10:16
Think about that.
God does not merely place His truth in front of us.
He intends to write it within us.
Heart. Mind. Conviction and understanding.
But what God writes within us does not go uncontested.
Conscience can be corrupted.
It can be ignored, dulled, even be seared.
Which means the absence of conviction does not necessarily mean the absence of wrongdoing.
Sometimes it means we have ignored conviction for so long that we have become practiced at silencing it.
Read that line again.
This is where the world becomes dangerous.
Because the world rarely demands that you abandon truth all at once.
It simply asks you to move the line.
Change the language.
Normalize the behavior.
Until something that once troubled the heart barely registers anymore.
This is why Paul tells us:
2 Corinthians 10:5:
“...bringing into captivity every thoughtto the obedience of Christ.”
Notice the battlefield.
The mind.
Even our own desires can begin writing sentences across the heart that God never authored.
So discernment cannot simply be:
“What feels right to me?”
The better question is:
“Whose handwriting is this?”
Does this conviction agree with the character of Christ?
Or have I simply heard something so many times that I stopped questioning who wrote it?
God writes His truth upon the heart and mind — but we must guard what we allow the world to scribble across it.
